2003 年に国際木版画ラボ運営の長沢アートパークアーティスト・イン・レジデンス・プログラムに参加し、日本の芸術形式と出会う。
手漉きの和紙に水性インクで刷る伝統的な木版画技法に、直線や幾何学模様を組み合わせて現代的に発展させた、動きや透明感のある表現がオーの作品の特徴である。
Mia O is a South Korean artist, currently living and working in Tokyo, Japan. In 2003,
she participated in the Nagasawa Art Park Artist-in-Residence program, run by the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory, and was introduced to the Japanese art form. Using the traditional printmaking process which applies water based ink on handmade Japanese washi paper, Mia O. modernizes the craft using geometric and linear shapes to convey movement and transparency.
She received her BFA in Fine Arts from Hong-ik University, Seoul, Korea and her MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute School of Art in New York. Her works have been exhibited and collected internationally, including a purchase award by the Hawaii state Foundation for culture and the Arts, Art in Public Places. and inclusion into the Kentler International Drawing Spaces Flatfiles.
