    展覧会内容

    “夢は実生活で抑圧された願望の表れである”とは、心理学の領野から夢について解釈したことでその名を広く知られるジームクント・フロイトの言葉です。1924年にフランスの詩人アンドレ・ブルトンが唱えた「シュルレアリスム第一宣言」に始まる芸術運動「シュルレアリスム(超現実主義)」に参画したシュルレアリストたちは、人間にとって夢という世界は最も制約のない自由な世界であると考え、夢と現実が出合う「超現実」こそが自由な創造を可能にすると考えました。現実の合理性では説明不可能な領域と現実との関係性に対して、異なる視点から新たな価値を見出す、あるいは現実を再構築することが、人間そのものを解放してゆくことでもありました。フロイトやシュルレアリストたちが想像した夢世界の系譜をなぞりながら、実生活で抑圧された願望を今も抱えながら生きる私たちの、解放の一途をたどりたいと考えます。
    本展覧会では、この夢の世界における美を追求する系実力派アーティスト9名を選抜し『Dream』というテーマで様々な技法とスタイルの中に映し出されるビジョンをコンテンポラリーアートシーンの問題として捉え、アートの可能性と方向性を提示します。

    “The virtuous man contents himself with dreaming that which the wicked man does in actual life.” So stated Sigmund Freud, the neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis who interpreted the dreams from a psychological perspective,
    André Breton, a French poet, defined Surrealism as the place where dreams and reality meet, without the hindrance of limitation. This is the way to creating a world with so many possibilities: by looking at world from a whole different perspective. Re-building and re-constructing the reality could be a key to escaping it. Treading the paths of Freud and other Surrealists, we aim to participate in this escapism by carrying over the dreams from our daily lives.
    For the exhibitions “Dreams”, we have selected 9 artists who seek the aesthetics of a fantasy world with the concept of dreams, and explore different techniques and styles to solve contemporary issues from their perspectives.
