檜皮一彦と斉藤有吾が最初の触媒となるSUPER-NORMAL が、「SUPER-NORMAL?」と題した映像インスタレーションを行います。
国際都市東京が普通に生きようとするものにとっていかに普通じゃない街かを、彼らが実際に体験し、考察を行った過程を映像化し公開します。
平凡で普通の感覚の中に潜む、冷やかな退屈さと異常なまでの暴力性に、観る者の視線は拐われ「普通」について再考せざるを得なくなります。
当初この展覧会は、今夏開催されるはずであったオリンピック・パラリンピックをハックし覆す行為として計画されていました。
しかし、コロナウィルスの感染がそれに先んじ拡大し、まさにオリ・パラ開催を凌駕してしまったのです。
人や経済の動きが無力化されたこの２ヶ月間、人々は「普通の生活」について真摯に考える日々を過ごしたとも言えます。
以前の普通に戻ることをよしとするのか、普通を超えた別次元の普通を求めるのか、
峠を越えたかにみえるコロナ禍の只中でSUPER-NORMALは改めて私たちに問いかけます。
檜皮一彦：美術作家。第22回岡本太郎現代芸術賞大賞受賞。2019年「TOKYO2021 un/real engine ―― 慰霊のエンジニアリング」(TODA BUILDING / 東京) など出展多数。
斉藤有吾：アート・オーガニゼーションCANCERの一員としても活動。

“スーパー・ノーマル” 始めました。

SUPER-NORMAL?, the first exhibition (video installation) of SUPER-NORMAL is produced by Kazuhiko HIWA and Yugo SAITO.
Their process of experiencing and examining how Tokyo, a cosmopolitan city, is an unusual city for those who try to live an ordinary life will be presented on film.
The cold boredom and the extraordinary violence that lurks within the ordinary and common sense of the city catches the viewer's eye and forces them to reconsider "normal".
Initially, the exhibition was planned as an act of hacking and subverting the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, which were to be held this summer.
But the coronavirus spread ahead of it and surpassed the Olympics and Paralympics.
It could be said that during these two months of disabling human and economic activity, people spent their days thinking seriously about "normal life".
Whether we're willing to return to our former normal, or whether we want a different dimension of normal that goes beyond normal.
In the midst of the corona ravages, SUPER-NORMAL asks us, "What do you think of normal?" .
