    展覧会内容

    この度、KOKI ARTSでは井上光太郎個展「VISION」を開催致します。本展は井上光太郎のKOKI ARTSで２回目となる個展です。本展では、新作ペインティングを展示致します。
    井上光太郎（1982年生まれ）は、2005年に大阪美術専門学校を卒業し、2007年頃から東京で活動するようになりました。近年の主な展示では、Gallery Den mym（2017年）での個展、YIRI ARTS（2016年）での二人展、2kw gallery（2018年）でのグループ展などがあります。井上の作品は、シェル美術賞展（2017年）、損保ジャパン美術賞展 FACE 2014（2014年）に選出されています。
    作家ステートメント
    映画のDVDの、膨大なキャプチャの中から一枚を引き抜く。引き抜かれた画は、何かが起こる前なのか、起こった後なのかはわからない。ただそこには何らかの前後を内包する空気が漂う。私の作品はそのようなものだ。鑑賞者に伝わりやすく説明する時に、そのような説明をする。
    加えてもう一つ、違う説明の仕方をする。私が目を閉じた時に浮かぶ風景やイメージ。遠くのどこか、行ったこともない名もなき場所。嵐の前触れのような風、夜の音。これらは古いVHS映像のように輪郭が荒く、不鮮明である。その中で強くはっきりと存在するのは、その場所にある空気や雰囲気、そして落ち着かない焦燥感である。
    私はこの感覚をなんと言ってよいのかわからずにいた。だが昨年、山脈の絵を描いている時に、ふと浮かんだことがある。私はその山脈には行ったことがない、実物を見たこともない。ただ頭で静かにイメージすると、その山々が音を立て、こちらを見ている。その瞬間、VISIONと言う言葉が浮かんだ。私の説明にいくつかのアプローチがあるように、VISIONという言語にも多様な意味がある。その中に、自分が目を閉じたときに思うイメージがいくつか含まれていた。例えば幻影、映像、幽霊のようなもの。
    今回の個展で、私のイメージする『VISION』を提示することにした。

    KOKI ARTS is pleased to announce Koutaro Inoue's solo exhibition, VISION. This exhibition, showcasing new paintings, will be the second solo exhibition of works by Koutaro Inoue at the gallery.
    KOUTARO INOUE (b.1982) graduated from Osaka College of Art in 2005, and started to exhibit his works in Tokyo from 2007. Recent exhibitions include a solo exhibition at Gallery Den mym (2017), a two person show at YIRI ARTS (2016), and a group exhibition at 2kw gallery (2018). Inoue's work was included in the Shell Art Award Exhibition (2017) and the Sompo Japan Art Award Exhibition FACE 2014 (2014).
    Artist Statement
    Pull out a single image from the vast number of images in a movie DVD. It is not known whether that image is from before or after something happens. Nevertheless, there drifts an atmosphere that is comprised of the state of being before or after something. My artwork is similar to that. To make it easier for the viewer to understand, I explain it this way. I go further by adding a different explanation. The landscapes and images that come to mind when I close my eyes. Places far away that don't even have names. Winds that foretell a storm, the sounds of night. These are all indistinct and have rough outlines like pictures from an old VHS tape. Among these, what strongly and clearly exists, is the air, atmosphere, and the uneasy fretfulness.
    I did not know how to express this feeling in words. Last year though, when I was making a painting a of a mountain range, I realized something. I have never visited nor seen the actual place. But when I quietly visualize it in my head, those mountains make a sound, watching me. That was the moment the word VISION sprang to mind. Similar to how I have different approaches in explaining my work, VISION has various definitions. It includes some images I see when I close my eyes. For example, it can mean illusion, picture, or something like a ghost.
    For this exhibition, I have decided to present the VISION that I imagine.
