この度、KOKI ARTSではラッセル・タイラーの日本初個展を開催致します。本展では、2015年と2017年の小作品を10点展示致します。
タイラーは、表現的な厚塗りの抽象絵画を探究しています。彼の2015年の作品は、20世紀の美術運動を引用しノスタルジックな効果を持つと同時に、イメージが現代の技術の影響によりどのように認識されるかを反映しています。新作は、花をモチーフにした構図となっており、鮮やかな色を対比させ、筆跡はディスプレー上のデジタルペイントを連想させます。
ラッセル・タイラー（1981年生まれ）は、2006年にコンコルディア大学
を卒業後、2010年にプラット・インスティテュートを修了。ニューヨークのブルックリンで制作しています。ニューヨークのDenny Galleryの所属作家であり、アメリカで数多くの展示をしております。今までに作品はアメリカ以外では、ドイツ、フランス、オランダ、スイス、ベルギー、イスラエル、カナダ、メキシコなど世界中で展示されています。またニューヨーク・タイムズ、ル・モンド、Blouin Artinfo、Modern Painters、NY Arts Magazine、San Francisco Arts Quarterly、The Brooklyn Rail、Hyperallergic、Arte Fuse、Artspaceなど数多くのメディアでも取り上げられています。



KOKI ARTS is pleased to announce Russell Tyler's first solo exhibition in Japan. This exhibition will showcase 10 small paintings from 2015 and 2017.
Tyler’s paintings explore a variety of expressive impasto abstractions. His works from 2015, with strong references to art movements from the 20th century, have a nostalgic effect but are contemporary in the way that they reflect how an image can be perceived under the influence of today’s technology. His most recent works are floral compositions, juxtaposing vivid colors and resembling digital brushstrokes.
RUSSELL TYLER (b. 1981) received his BFA from Concordia University in 2006 and his MFA from Pratt Institute in 2010. Tyler lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He has exhibited extensively in the United States and is represented by Denny Gallery in New York. Tyler's work has been exhibited internationally in countries such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Israel, Canada and Mexico. He has been featured in, The New York TImes, Le Monde, Blouin Artinfo, Modern Painters, NY Arts Magazine, San Francisco Arts Quarterly, The Brooklyn Rail, Hyperallergic, Arte Fuse, Artspace, among others.
