ー境界をゆく名もなきものたちー
私たちは世界を理解するために境界を引き、名前を与えます。
その線が少しだけ揺らいだとき、
そこには名もなきものたちのパレードが現れます。
世界には、はじめから境界があるのでしょうか。
水と陸、生と死、人と自然、現し世と見えない世界。
私たちは世界を理解するために名前を与え、境界を引き、分類を繰り返してきました。
しかし、その境界は世界そのものに存在するのではなく、私たちの認識の中に生まれるものなのかもしれません。
蝶や蜻蛉は、水辺と空を往還しながら、姿を変え、季節をめぐります。
鹿は古くから神仏の使者として、人の世界と聖なる世界をつないできました。
烏は境界に立ち、ときに死者の国へ、ときに新しい世界へと私たちを導く案内人として語られてきました。
彼らは異なる世界を行き来する存在であると同時に、世界が本来ひとつであることを静かに教えてくれる存在でもあります。
そして本展に現れる、機械と植物、動物と人工物が溶け合った名もなきものたちは、既存の分類では呼ぶことのできない存在です。
彼らは自然と人工を対立させるためではなく、その境界が引かれる以前の豊かな世界を思い出させるために現れます。
『あわいのパレイド』とは境界を越える者たちの行列ではありません。
境界そのものが、私たちの認識の中に立ち現れる瞬間の風景です。
世界は、もともと分かれてはいなかったのかもしれない。
境界を引き続けているのは、私たちなのかもしれない。
Do boundaries truly exist in the world ?
We name things, classify them, and draw lines between nature and the artificial, human and nonhuman, the visible and the unseen. These distinctions help us understand the world, yet they may reveal more about our perception than about reality itself.
Butterflies and dragonflies inhabit the threshold between water, air, and changing seasons, embodying cycles of transformation. Deer have long appeared in Japanese tradition as messengers linking the human world with the sacred. Crows stand at the edge of worlds, guiding travelers across visible and invisible realms.
These beings do not simply cross boundaries—they remind us that boundaries themselves may be temporary constructions.
The nameless creatures in this exhibition occupy an even more uncertain place. Part machine, part plant, part animal, they resist familiar categories. Rather than opposing nature and technology, they suggest a world before such distinctions were made—a world where life unfolds without fixed borders.
The title, A Parade of Thresholds, refers not only to a procession of beings moving between worlds, but also to the moment when perception itself begins to create those worlds.
Perhaps the world has never been divided at all.
Perhaps it is we who continue to draw its boundaries.
「パレイド」は、「パレード」と「パレイドリア（Pareidolia）」を重ねた造語です。
境界を行くものたちの行列（Parade）

という二つの意味を、一つの言葉に折り畳んでいます。
