Profile
Kenta Kitano
Photographer / Based in Kanagawa, Japan
For me, photography is the act of recording points of memory.
Memories always exist as fragments—scenery glimpsed on the way, the fleeting face of a stranger, moments that quickly fade. Yet by fixing those fragments onto film, I resist the current of oblivion and leave traces of existence.
Encounters with people whose faces, voices, and scents I no longer remember. The blank expression of mannequins, my own reflection in glass. What emerges between art and documentation are fragments of everyday life—slipping away before meanings can be fully grasped.
My photography embraces this uncertainty, seeking to question the sense of “authenticity” that resides between record and memory.

自己紹介

僕にとって写真とは、記憶の点を記録する行為である。
記憶はいつも断片でしかなく、道中の景色やすれ違った誰かの顔は儚く消える。だが、その擦過の一瞬を写真に定着させることで、忘却の濁流に抗い、存在の痕跡を残すことができる。
顔も声も匂いも覚えていない人との交差。マネキンの無表情と、ガラスに反射した自分の顔。芸術と記録の狭間に浮かび上がるのは、意味を処理しきれずに零れ落ちる日常の断片である。
私の写真は、その不確かさを肯定し、記録と記憶のあいだに潜む「本物らしさ」を問いかける試みだ。
