自己紹介

金属造形家。金属素材を金鎚で叩き造形する「鍛金（たんきん）」を用いて植物や生き物をモチーフに制作し、独自の表現を探究している。

私は金属を金鎚で叩き造形する鍛金技法の過程に「生と死」の感覚を感じて、独自の生きものを表現しています。
金属を叩いたり傷つけたり変形させたり、「絞り」技法によって作品の内部に空洞ができたりすることは、私には何か死に近いことに感じられます。
しかし、「死」のようなものを経て実際に出来上がる作品たちには、妙な生命感と生の感覚が宿っています。私はそのことにいつも心動かされて、これまで生き延びてきました。

Metal Sculptor. I create concrete representations of plants and living things using “tankin”, which is a method of shaping metal materials by hammering them, exploring the unique vitality of my work.

　I feel a sense of "life and death" in the process of forging, which involves hammering metal pieces into a 3-D shape, in my case living creatures. This is a transformation of a lifeless material into a lively being.
　Hitting, scratching, and deforming metals, and making cavities inside with the technique of squeezing, feels like something close to death to me.
　However, the works completed after going through such a destructive process have a strange sense of vitality and freshness. I've always been inspired by that, and it's helped me survive.
